Why I Believe Trust, Service and Relationships Matter Most in Oklahoma Real Estate
After nearly 20 years in real estate, one thing has become clearer to me every year: this business has never really been about houses. It’s about people.
Of course, I love helping someone find the right home, negotiating a great deal, marketing a property, or putting a SOLD sign in the yard. But when I look back over my career, those aren't the things I remember most.
I remember the people.
I remember the first-time buyers who trusted me to walk them through a process they had never experienced before. I remember families who called me when it was time to move because life had changed. I remember clients who became friends, and friends who trusted me enough to send their children, parents, neighbors, and coworkers my way.
Those relationships mean more to me than any transaction ever could.
An Oklahoma Realtor Focused on Relationships
Real estate can sometimes become too focused on numbers—sales volume, listings, commissions, rankings and awards.
Those things have their place, but I've always believed there is a better way to measure success.
Would my client call me again?
Even better, would they feel comfortable recommending me to someone they care about?
Whether I'm helping someone with Oklahoma City real estate, an Edmond home, Tulsa real estate, a luxury property, relocation or an Oklahoma lake home, I want every client to feel like their needs matter.
Because they do.
A Real Estate Closing Isn't the End of the Relationship
One of the things I've always believed is that my job doesn't end when we leave the closing table.
I want my clients to know that five months, five years, or even longer after we close, they can still pick up the phone and call me.
Maybe they need the name of a good contractor.
Maybe they're wondering what their home is worth in today's Oklahoma real estate market.
Maybe they're thinking about moving to another part of Oklahoma, purchasing an investment property, finding a lake house or selling a luxury home.
Or maybe they simply have a real estate question and don't know who to ask.
I'm still here.
That's the kind of real estate business I've always wanted to build.
Trust Has to Be Earned in Real Estate
Buying or selling a home is one of the largest financial decisions many people will ever make. But it's also a very personal decision.
You're dealing with someone's home, their money, their family and sometimes a major transition in their life.
I don't take that responsibility lightly.
I believe trust is earned by answering the phone, returning calls, communicating, telling people the truth—even when it isn't necessarily what they want to hear—and doing what you say you're going to do.
You don't build a lasting real estate relationship by worrying about the commission check.
You build it by putting the client's best interests first.
Why Referrals Mean So Much to Me
A large part of my real estate career has been built through repeat clients and referrals, and I've never taken that for granted.
When someone tells a friend, family member or coworker:
“You need to call Wayne. He'll take care of you.”
That's one of the greatest compliments I can receive.
Because they're not simply recommending a Realtor. They're putting their own reputation behind mine.
That means something to me.
And when someone gives me that kind of trust, I want to earn it.
Oklahoma Real Estate Is Still a People Business
Technology has changed our industry tremendously.
Today we have sophisticated digital marketing, social media, global property exposure, artificial intelligence, detailed market data and technology that can connect buyers and sellers faster than ever before.
Those are valuable tools, and I believe in using them.
But technology can't replace sitting across the table from someone and listening.
It can't replace understanding why someone needs to move.
It can't replace knowing when to speak up during a negotiation—or when to simply listen.
And it can't replace having an experienced real estate professional beside you when a transaction becomes complicated.
At the end of the day, real estate is still a relationship business.
I hope that never changes.

Every client deserves communication, honesty, professional representation and personal service.
Relationships Over Transactions
Whether I'm helping someone purchase their first home, sell a luxury property, relocate to Oklahoma, move across town or find a place at one of Oklahoma's beautiful lakes, my goal is simple:
Treat people the way I would want to be treated.
I'm incredibly grateful for every person who has trusted me over the years. Some have worked with me once. Others I've had the privilege of helping several times. Many have become friends.
Every real estate transaction eventually closes.
A good relationship doesn't have to.
And that's why, for me, it will always be:
Relationships Over Transactions.
